Data plate info?
Is anyone aware of another manufacturer with data plates similar in size to Bantam? I located the mounting holes where the missing plate should be. It appears to match up with Bantam but I haven’t checked with a repro plate yet. I also located the number 1739 stamped at two locations. One is below the data plate location and along the front side of the frame. It’s hard to see from the picture but that’s the stamped number below the data plate location. The last picture is the same location just turned sideways.

Re: Data plate info?
What is the shape of the drawbar reinforcement? Is it sloped, bird mouthed or angled and vertical combined? You might have to try to see behind the extra stuff added to those drawbars. 1739 may not mean anything useful. It's very rare to find one of these trailers with a stamping that is of any use. What spacing do you have on the mounting holes there? I've had a couple of people email me with that information on their trailers and I'll see if anything matches. A type study on these is one of my ongoing projects.

The data plate spacing is 4 7/8” across by 2 1/2”. I’ll attach a few pics of the drawbar reinforcement. Sorry my pics aren’t the best.

Few more pics of the strange axle plate and hub. Also a stamped number beside that plate.

Re: Data plate info?
I should have been more clear. The first trailers in 1940/41 had "open drawbars" they were just C-channel. Later they were reinforced when coming from the factory with a smaller piece of C-channel inverted into the first. Where that channel ended was shaped a couple of different ways and narrows down the manufacturer some. Here is what I'm talking about. You might have to peer in with a flashlight or make a best guess with that added metal to yours. Later in civilian life sometimes that part was plated over for things like landing jacks. That's how it is on the other side of this trailer pictured below. But on this side, circled you can see what I'm going on about.
The 102703 seems almost like the USA Registration number but it falls in between known batches. I don't know if you covered this before but what is the bump stop over top of the axle mounted to the frame made of? Is it coiled steel or rubber?

Re: Data plate info?
Coiled steel. Sorry for the confusion on the open drawbar reinforcement. I’ll check tomorrow when it’s light. Thanks for the more detailed instructions.

Re: Data plate info?
The c channel doesn’t appear to be plated over any existing channel reinforcement. It goes inside the rail and from it looks nothing else inside.

Re: Data plate info?
Huh, that doesn't help. I've never seen drawbars reinforced that way before. I'll go back to looking for plate dimensions then.

Re: Data plate info?
Anyone else see the reflector hole filled with steel rivets? Probably a bubba mod but seems like a lot of work just to fill holes unless it was manufactured that way. All four reflector holes are closed. I’ll probably drill those out eventually unless someone else has encountered this.

Re: Data plate info?
Is there a difference in brakes/springs from early and late models? Pulled one side today to inspect and clean.

Re: Data plate info?
Looks about normal to me. If you search around the forums here there are some EARLY ones with a different number of bolts to the backing plate. Otherwise that looks like a typical Ben Hur trailer brake setup.
