G518 restore

Post by Robin » Mon Mar 18, 2019 7:57 pm

This summer I plan to restore my April 43 Ben Hur K52 trailer. Just thought I'd share the markings that the Navy put on it before they're gone. I'm going to restore it as an Army trailer since those numbers are still readable on the tail gate.
Is there any meaning to the H275 serial number?

And the Navy markings are on both sides up near the front.

Robin,

I'll be following this one closely. I hope to do a bit of work on mine near the end of this week. Have you seen the type study thread? As yours has a data plate with all the pertinent information I'd like to add that information to my database.

Matt, I'll be following this resto as well. I've seen this trailer up close and in person and it has to be one of the straightest trailers I have seen. It's gonna be nice when finished.
Also, what is this 'type study thread' you speak of. Gotta link to it, do ya'?

Here's the type study thread:

Tim made a nice list based on a couple of his trailers and his own observations. That's primarily what I'm plugging into the database so far.
