A wire adapter question about the Ben Hur...

Post by RedArrow2016 » Sat Nov 17, 2018 6:38 pm

My question is does anyone have a photographs of the wire adapters that connects from the truck to the Ben Hur itself. I have some small wire adapters maybe for the Ben Hur and I am curious for anyone to help me in this. And thanks for helping me with as well take care and many blessings...

Not sure what you mean by "wire adapters"... The trailer light wiring was a standard WWII 4 slot bakelite trailer plug...

You have found the "Pot of Gold" . These doouble ended cables could be found as slave cables between two M-5 Bomb Trailers when the M-6 and M-27 Bomb Trucks hauled several bomb trailers at a time. One Plug can be removed and the cable can be used for the MBT/BT-3. Easily worth $100.00 bucks a cable. I had a couple dozen NOS a few years ago and they sold out in short time.
The Bakelite style with the fabric loom is in demand by the MBT owners, the Rubber version s are used to join two trailers together and do not come apart. Aircraft museums and bomb Trailer Restorers may be interested in both types. There are other applications also.

MBT Trailer owners. Some will express concern over 4 Wires as MBT uses three. The extra wire is no prob. The Fabric Loom and NOS Bakelite Plug are the big draw as these are scarce after 70 years.

Try to sell the cables w/plugs to the WWII MBT/BT-3 Market, the period looking fabric loom is in demand. Be patient tho.

These will also service the M10 ammunition trailers. Bakelite connectors with cloth covered wire are early War, rubber coated are late War into post-war (not sure of the exact mo/yr they began production though).

You might consider offering them to our host, Ron Fitzpatrick, since you are using his resources as your exclusive research and marketing firm.
Just a thought.
