Attention K-52 owners

Post by Robin » Sat Jul 27, 2019 7:10 pm

I've been studying up on the K-52 generator trailer and I need some input for you other K-52 owners. I noticed in Doyles book on the G506 Chevy, that on page 242 there's a good photo of a K-52 with the tail gate open, and the tail pipe for the PE-95 generator is penetrating through the floor of the trailer on the right side. But my trailer has the hole a little left of center. And DRH's trailer has it in the front left floor. So my question is, where is the 2" hole in your trailers? Does the hole placement change because of different models of generators? PE-93-C verses PU-58 or PE-197, etc.

K52 was the unit with the PE95 in it. Left side hole is oil change drain hole I believe. Mine is not here at the moment but I know there is an oil drain hole in the floor. Al Hansel

Can you send me a drawing of the size and locations of the holes?

Also is the spare tire bracket mounted so that tire is centered over the axle so it dosent affect the balance?

Just brought home a Jan 1945 Ben Hur in nice condition.

This unit has what i believe is a different spare tire holder mounted in front of the axle. It has a ratching winch to lift a plate attached to a spare. I assume someone made it. I have the correct one which i will mount it and remove this one i mentioned

My trailer is in a storage unit some miles away but I will measure when I get a chance. No ratchet tire lift that I know of on the trailer.

I'm not sure if this helps but ask if you need more pictures or dimensions. Holes are crude, added after it left the factory!

Great Pictures. Thanks.

I have a drawing of the holes and dimensions. Unfortunately, everything is too small to read, so dimensions and hole sizes would extremely helpful.

I notice the spare tire is mounted all the way back under the body. Makes me wonder if the trailer is tail heavy w/o the genset.
Also: my trailer has some holes in the floor that seem to measure the same measurements as my PE 95. Did the std non genset trailers have holes in the floor?

Also, thanks for the lead on the trailer plug. I bought 2 so I can have a spare, if need be, in the future for the water buffalo, or the bomb trailer or the searchlight trailer. The Bomb Truck has a taillight converter that works with the Bomb Trailer so with the 4-pin connector, I can have right directional, left directional, running lights, electric brakes and ground all using the 4-pin connector. If anyone needs how to make it, PM me. It is very simple.

This was a genuine K52 trailer, so I think the spare tire is mounted correctly. I don't think the non-gen trailers would have the mounting holes in the floor for the gen. Maybe another post on G503 in trailer section would get some info. I guess I have not man handled the trailer enough without the gen in it to know if it is tail heavy. I had the gen and cord box mounted but removed them both for some repairs.

I don't know how to PM on here but would like the info on the light converter. Al Hansel 8621 SE 58 St Claremont, MN 55924 Thanks

I'll get you some measurements. Trailer is in a storage unit 20 miles away.
