Ben Hur u-bolts

Post by 8683jb » Wed Dec 06, 2023 7:18 pm

I was going through the G518 parts manual to get the correct bolts for the front of the trailer that attach it to the drawbar and noticed that some trailers, like mine, have bolts through plates welded to each drawbar and others use u-bolts. Are the differences specific to different manufacturers or dates of manufacture or what?

I have seen it both ways also. My Jan '41 has the bolted version.

Maybe an early vs. late thing, there are a lot of differences if you have an early one. (Axle ubolts, 8-point hub cap, 1 center tailgate hinge, hand brake in the rear, etc).
