What a great conversation this has been. Regardless of what way the original poster opts to do his trailer, or how others have or will do theirs this has been a good civil discussion.

Also that brewing company and Inn at the old coach works is something we will have to make a company outing to sometime ;)

Agreed!! I will eventually get around to restoring a wooden Ben Hur, and this has been very insightful. Thanks Gents!

Some of the hardwoods specified in the manufacture of cargo trailers and wood cargo bodies during WWII may not be ideal. There are more suitable woods out there for those who desire longer life, there was a war going on and long life was not the issue, production was.

The markings and Part Numbers on the Spring Hangers may give you a clue to the trailer make.
