Ammunition Trailer M10 - discovery of original WWII inscriptions

Post by Landy » Sun Jun 28, 2020 2:04 pm

Hi guys, I'm already describing here in another forum how I got this Ammunition Trailer M10. But today I used a high pressure hot dishwasher, a sharp shutter and a lot of patience ..... and here are the results.
1. Beautiful yellow weight table on the front. I usually saw round on vehicles, but here it is square ....
2. On the back inscription - USA 01304794 - can someone please determine something about the history of this trailer according to this number?
3. Next on the back in orange - probably - PT 9 - or something - you don't know what it is ???
4. On the side of the tire - the original WWII - 45 LBS. To 40 lbs. it's already on the top layer, it's not the original WWII.
5. Finally I started looking for the Dodge WC 63 .... and this is the first star - on the side ....

Very cool Marek. There isn't a lot of information out there regarding original markings on the M10, so thanks for taking the time to uncover yours and share them.
Since the AR 850-5 doesn't specifically cover the M10, I think a lot of units made their best guess, which is why in the few original photos of M10s where you can see the markings they are all different. Particularly interesting is the square bridge plate marking, and the fact that it is a "3" when the manual lists "2" for the M10 trailer.
I marked mine as close as possible to original video of a 4th Armored Division column of halftracks and tanks crossing the Moselle:
