M10 ammunition trailer pintle hook question

Post by Tapper02 » Tue Oct 22, 2019 8:42 pm

Anyone disassembled/rebuilt their M10 pintle hook? Mine is seized right now and debating whether or not to tear it down. I managed to free up the latch on top of the lock, but the lock is stuck in the open position. Looking under the latch, there appears to be a broken off piece of sheet metal...not sure what this goes to. I think there should also be a spring somewhere in there? Any advice?

Most pintle hooks have a flat spring built into them, intended to pop the pintle open when unlatched. It appears that your spring is likely broken...

Thanks Kirk. The TM indicates a spring but there is no picture of it.

Anyone have a pic or know the dimensions and how it's bent so I can have one made?

Here is a link to a similar discussion about the spring on a Chevy G506 pintle hook. viewtopic.php?f=25&t=281492&p=1636173

Can anyone tell me the proper way to go about removing this pin....without destroying it or the hook?

Tom, just remove the complete hook from the trailer, than only with hydrolic high pressure, you can remove the pin. next weekend I can make some pics.
