Repo Artillary Round Shipping Tubes

Post by Austringer » Wed Mar 15, 2023 12:16 pm

Need to fill out the mortar round storage racks on the track and need tubes. I think its either 42 or 48 tubes needed. I have found a core maker that can make the same OD tubes (4.6") but they do not have the black protective wrap. I wanted to see if there was anyone that has used either water down paint or dye to blacken them and make them look correct.

This is one of the original shipping tubes I have for measurements.

Jason,

For old tubes or home made, I suggest using Dupli-Color Vinyl & Fabric coating HVP106 Flat Black. Comes in a spray can and purchased at most auto stores. I have used to make old tube's look new. It soaks in more like a dye. I have done many 106mm RR tubes and people say they look factory fresh. That is one nice 4 duce project you have there!!

Thamks, might have found 10 original tubes, the rest will be pretty easy to fill with repo tubes aa they will pretty much be out of sight.
