looking for plans to make WW II yard cannon

Post by battlebaby3 » Mon Sep 12, 2022 5:55 pm

Has anyone here made a WW I or WW II yard cannon for their home? I see plenty for Civil War barrels and plans. I am looking for plans or ideas. Might be a winter project for my home. Thanks Pat

Given the flat surfaces, I would say an M101 105mm Howitzer would be the simplest gun to replicate.
Has rubber Deuce wheels (although the original combat wheels had more lugs and were rubber filled) So am M101 Trailer axle could be used, flat plate sheet for sheild
Aluminum or steel street lamp for barrel
pipe for top recoil group
Large rectangle box beam for recoil group sleigh
Different rectangle box tubing for trails with cut and bend where needed.
The Lunette for the 101 trailer would fit the rear.
Breach area is basically sqaure as well.

Now someone sells a replica, you may want to look into them and clean up what they build further (Hoosier Hotshot I think)

DO NOT try to build a replica M3 37mm ATG........
I've been machining on this one since 2014! I look at it all the time and wonder..."what was I thinking!??"
