Ukrainian Artillery casings
I wonder how hard it would be to acquire Artillery casings used in combat in the Ukraine? It would make an interesting addition to my collection.

Re: Ukrainian Artillery casings
Why not?
We (U.S.A.) taxpayers paid for them.
The cost of shipping them back might be a deal breaker.
No U.S. 155mm in your collection already?

Re: Ukrainian Artillery casings
Current US 155 guns are bag guns... So no shell casings from the M777A2s that we sent over there.
Now 105s have casings. But I don't think we've sent any M119s over there.

Re: Ukrainian Artillery casings
Yup, it was meant as a joke.
The news was pretty clear that it was 155mm guns we donated (I was thinking M198's not the latest M777's).
And I'm pretty sure every 155mm gun the last 100 years or so is "bag" charged.
Which made me wonder how much the OP knows about artillery shell casings.
Or why having U.S. artillery casings used in a foreign war between two dictators would make them interesting.

I just hope that you are sending also XM1128 HEBB shells with your M777A2 or M109Ax so that the only dictator over there would receive them, without being able to return the gift to the ukrainians.Ron D wrote: ↑Thu Jul 28, 2022 5:40 amYup, it was meant as a joke.

Re: Ukrainian Artillery casings
Yes, I have several 155mm projectiles, smoke and HE. All the way down to 37mm. All demilled. I am well aware that modern 155mm are bagged. That does not mean everything they are using is modern. I have several casings from 37mm up to 105mm. I had a larger WWII casing but donated it to a local military museum. I think it was 5" and was allegedly used in combat against the Japanese. It was the grand prize for high sales of the 7th War Bond drive from the LA water works. Wish I kept it now. They have not done anything with it since I donated it 30 years ago.
My main question was wondering if there was any dunnage that Ukraine could create into War memorabilia to sell and raise funds. Like they do with down airplanes made into key fobs. I am not interested in aircraft memorabilia, but I am interested in weapons dunnage.

It’s almost sure that people over there will try to make some money with stuff left on the battlefield when the war will be over.lester4238 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 28, 2022 9:58 amYes, I have several 155mm projectiles, smoke and HE. Could get in contact with those artillerymen who take donations to write messages on shells.
They're already taking money to do things, they're the type who would be down with getting paid to ship a spent casing to whoever.

There is a guy on Ebay selling Russian gear and uniforms he finds on the ground in Ukraine. Maybe he can grab some shells too.

Re: Ukrainian Artillery casings
There's a chap I know on Facebook selling all sorts of kit from Ukraine, no doubt he will be able to get the sort of stuff you are looking for. I dont know if he will ship to the USA though due to the importation restrictions. I can ask. Please send me a PM if you want me to make an enquiry on your behalf.lester4238 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 26, 2022 9:03 pmI wonder how hard it would be to acquire Artillery casings used in combat in the Ukraine? Russia has used several types of missiles in its invasion of Ukraine, including the Kh-47M2 "Kinzhal" hypersonic nuclear-capable missile, the 9K720 "Iskander" as well as variations of the 3M-54 "Kalibr" and Uragan .

Well a rocket stove made from a rocket is pretty unique.
