Have a nice 1951 dated 3 digit serial number M29 81mm mortar for sale.
Bad Parts:
1. Barrel was cut in half and has an insert holding it together, will need to have a good welder weld back together and clean up the external threads.
Good Parts:
1. Original end cap / cup with 1951 date and 3 digit serial number
2. 2 base plates - one early and one late model. One is a two piece, can't remember which one is early one
3. Nice 1952 dated M23A1 bipod
4. Has very hard to find barrel ring that the bipod shock absorber attaches to.
Currently on Form 1 in Ga as the tube is not demilled to ATF specs and could be easily restored as a hole was never cut in barrel and cross bar was never welded in.
$8500 OBO for a very rare Korean to Vietnam era Mortar.

Re: WTS: 1951 M29 81mm Mortar - Destructive Device
The X-shaped cast aluminum M3A1 base plate is the later issue plate, we still used them with the M29A1 81mm in Berlin 1989-90, then when I went back in Oct 92, we had brand new M252 Improved 81mm Mortars (US license mfg UKMOD L16 81mm) with a totally new bipod and tube, but the same M3A1 aluminum base plate.
Matter of fact I believe the cast aluminum M3A1 base plate is still used with the titanium M252A1 81mm Mortar System.
