75mm Airborne Pack Howitzer - CES
Hello,
I am nearing completion of a British Airborne Gun Towing GPW, and have started the search for 75mm Airborne Pack Howitzer - Complete Equipment Schedule (CES). Is there any forums or groups of restorers in the US who can help with my search?
Thanks

I’ve been looking for one for 25 years. Only seen 1 available and I missed it.

What’s different about it? I Googled and this thread is all that comes up?

Complete Equipment Schedule:
Sights (indirect)
Sighting System/Pickets
Sights (anti tank)
Clinometer (elevation)
Compass / Binoculars
Fuze Setters
Rock Spade
Manual move of gun position - ropes / attachments
Camouflage Netting / Poles for Gun and Jeep
Maintenance Tools
Oil / Greasing Tools
Cleaning Rod/Brushes
Boxes to house the above items.
This is my best guess.
Also - does any know what happened in terms of disposal of the 75mm post the war?

Post War?
The 75mm gun is still in use in Countries like Turkey and other US Allies.
In the States it was used into Vietnam, then relegated to Avalanche control and salute battery duties/ ROTC school guns.
They were never surplused out enmass like other obsolete systems, they continue to serve in the military in the rolls described above, hence the lack of 'parts' availability.

W Winget,
Thanks for the post. Do you know whether the British Airborne Howitzers were loaned and returned to the USA, or do you believe they were purchased? If the latter, I guess the UK will have arranged disposal, which I can request information from the appropriate authorities.
In regards to USA disposal - I take your point regarding limited numbers surfacing for disposal. If one were to surface, do you know the mechanism which can be engaged?
Lastly, I have been searching for the Triple Cluster plates and M48 HE Tubes - do you know whether they are still available in the US?
Many thanks
Neil

Re: 75mm Airborne Pack Howitzer - CES
Short answer:
England and Allies were gifted the material, too expensive to bring it all home, and in some cases they were paying for it.
Disposal means being cut into little parts now. Very few have surfaced in full condition, most are built through parts here and there.
Clover Leaf ends were on sale by an individual here in the States that had found some in the Desert, good luck with those.

Hi!
If you haven't bought them already, I'm the one selling the desert found cloverleaf ends and items. Still have a few left, but not with original rods or wingnuts. The rods are easily made (I include instructions) and since they're hidden by the tubes, doesn't matter. Also have the two different sized original washers and a nearly identical wingnut that's nickle plated. In addition, I have the metal endcaps for the tubes, (1) shell base cover (lead is missing, TM9-1901, pg 27, #9, 4-1/4" or approx. 11mm) and (2) of these U-shaped packing locks (TM9-1901, pg 36). Also have fuze cavity lifting plugs for larger caliber (105/155mm). Other members have had tubes made using my endcaps. You might contact one of them. Shoot me a message if you're interested in anything.
