F/S German WWI 240mm SK L/40 Shell Casing

Post by Quest Master » Mon Sep 24, 2018 11:36 am

For Sale: MASSIVE German WWI 24 cm (240mm) SK L/40 Shell Casing, marked PATRONEFABRIK KARLSRUHE, IX (September) 1916, Lot 936. Marked with Kreigsmarine M under crown. Fired C/12 primer. Complete with very rare storage lid, also marked with M under crown.

The 24 cm Schnelladekanone Länge 40, was a German naval gun developed in the years before World War I that armed a number of the Imperial German Navy's pre-dreadnought battleships and armored cruisers. Later guns removed from these ships were converted to coastal artillery and railroad guns in WWI and WWII.

This brass shell casing is MASSIVE! 9.5" in diameter and 3 and a half feet long. It weighs almost 60 pounds. Virtually no damage or dents (except to lid). Super rare shell casing and rarely offered for sale! $1200 plus shipping (will only ship in the United States). PM me if you are interested or want additional photos (crappy beer shown for scale).
