Anyone heard of a HOWTAR?

Post by Duke113P » Fri May 13, 2011 4:06 pm

I know, I said the same thing... HOWTAR... that is a weird name for a piece. Currently I know of only two in existince, if there are more out there anyone seen them?

1 is located at USMC museum at Quantico, VA

2nd is temporarily at Ft. Sill, OK.

Yes. basically a 4.2 mortar on a 75MM pack howitzer recoil mech and carriage. My understanding is the rear section of the box trail has been cut short. I was contacted a while back by a person who was looking for parts. No howtar parts, but had some howitzer parts and knew where a rear box trail was that he could cut down.
If your gun doesn't leak oil, it's time for a bigger gun.

Hey Guys,

My friend Jason is building one, or trying to assemble the parts to. He is Austringer on here, and is probably the one who contacted you.

Cheers,

Tell your bud if he needs any closeup photos of the modified carriage to contact me. I am building a photo reference to post for all to see on the G soon.

I still have a carriage (in PA) that is modified to a Howtar, want to trade for a normal Pack one, if I don't find a normal carriage this Howtar will be converted back to original spec's coming fall.
