Need Exhaust Pipe Flange Spacer GM2017500
My exhaust pipe flange spacer is shot. I have been searching the internet but with no success. Does anyone know of a source of the spacer, GM2017500?

I have not been able to find these for some time now. The next time that I need one, I will fabricate one. It is a pretty easy sheet metal piece. You could also check out Jeep Dodge GMC. https://jeep-dodge-gmc.com

Re: Need Exhaust Pipe Flange Spacer GM2017500
Thanks for the leads. I'll chase down any lead I can. I was also looking at some of the older NAPA stores in the area to try and hit over the weekend in the hopes they may have something I can use. I went into one NAPA store in Troy, AL and asked if they had 6 volt headlamps. The guy brought out a case full and said I could have them for $2 each! I took the whole case.

It has also panned out for me in the past to call Jim Carter Truck parts and Chevs of the Fortys. These two suppliers have often supplied me with parts that are not posted in their catalogs. When I say call, I do mean call with a telephone. An email may work, but it is probably best to speak with someone who may be a bit more motivated to look.

I may have what you need. If you could post a picture of the spacer, that would help. My 1943 G508 parts book does not list a #2017500...so perhaps I have it here.

I got this picture from an online vendor who, unfortunately, no longer has any. I;lll see if I can get a picture of mine the next time I go to the storage building. It is rusted up pretty bad and falling apart, but I held on to it to perhaps use as a pattern.

Re: Need Exhaust Pipe Flange Spacer GM2017500
I decided to just try and fabricate one using the shot one as a guide. Went to Lowes and picked up some weldable steel sheet, drew the outline, used my aviator tin snips to cut the general shape and then ground it down on the edges. The three bolt holes won't be a problem but I'm wondering about the center part. Since the purpose seems to be to deflect exhaust, I think I can just cut out most of the center then hammer the lip. I thought about scooping out a block of wood help form the lip. That or see if I can find a flange of the correct size and use the press to shape it.
Am I wasting my time? I don't expect it to last forever, but I think it will work.

I used a worn-out exhaust flange. I cut a piece of heavy metal to go over and around the mating surface of the exhaust flange, GM2017419. Use the original flange and the piece of heavy metal to sandwich the spacer piece that you are trying to fabricate. Put three bolts through the holes and crank them down tightly. I then use a large socket on a press to press out the angled part you are trying to create. The next one that I make, I will take photos of the process. These instructions are a once over to provide a rough idea of how to. Please do not look at this as step-by-step instructions. Obviously, you have to cut holes in the heavy piece of steel that will need to be fabricated to go over the flange. Also, I think that piece of steel was around a 1/4 inch or so. When I can get a chance to make one, I will be sending it your way. I just have not had the opportunity. It was not supper hard to make, but it did take a couple of hours with the tool manufacturing included. I would guess that it would probably take around an hour now that I have the tools ready to go. I am really surprised that one of the few people, Wildenburg, B.V. Trading, Jeepest, Jim Carter Truck Parts, etc. etc. dealing in CCKW and GMC parts, is not knocking these out.

Re: Need Exhaust Pipe Flange Spacer GM2017500
Thanks! When I measured the exhaust flange spacer that I took off, it was well under 1/4 inch. I've no doubt a spacer made 1/4 inch will outlast the engine!
Does anyone know the actual thickness of the spacer? Looking at the picture in the TM9-801 on page 217 it looks to be the same size as the gasket or slightly over 1/16 inch. I know the drawing may not be to scale so if someone that has an actual on and would provide me the thickness I would be most thankful!

The 1/4 inch is not the spacer. That was the piece I fabricated to hold the spacer in place while I pressed the larger hole in the spacer that sits in the exhaust pipe. I am speaking of the large hole that is the center of the triangular shaped spacer. If I recall correctly, I used a piece of 18 gauge sheet metal that was left from somebody work I had recently completed. I think if you use metal somewhere around 18 gauge, you will be in the correct ball park.
