Rear Banjo hub and brake drum.
What is the purpose of SNAP RING?When we disassembled it in august 2014 we did not see it.We did not see the outer bearing oil seal with leather too.

The outer bearing race is installed from the outside of the hub. The snap ring is what the outer bearing race is driven against or next to.

Do you need the nut and seal, or just the seal? If the nut us in good useable condition, the leather seal can be replaced with a modern neoprene seal.

The neoprene replacement axle nut seal is National 6090 or 6090s. You should be able to feel a slight resistance by hand when reinstalling your axle shaft, in the last 1/16 of an inch or so. That is the seal compressing on the flange.

Re: Rear Banjo hub and brake drum.
Hi Fernando,
As Kirk mentions, that snap ring locates the position of the bearing race. Maybe it was inside the hub and just did not get removed ?
As CTcckw recommends, the National seal will work - assuming (as Kirk mentions) you have the correct outer nut that retains the seal. I have used these in the past, but found that they have to be modified slightly by adding notches around the outer circumference, in order to use the GM socket to tighten down the outer nut.
The GM (3660089) seals show up frequently on auction sites such as e-pay. I would recommend using them if at all possible. They are usually not leather, probably neoprene.
Lastly, most of the time the seals & bearings and hubs go together without any issues. Occasionally, there needs to be some minor fitting done, to put the seal at the correct height.
Several years ago, there was a lengthy discussion on this. The link is here:

Re: Rear Banjo hub and brake drum.
Hi Mudflap,retro-roco and CTcckw. My rear left hub is a true ACHILLES TENDON because when I bought my truck in january 2005 it alreary arrived with its eight bolts different of 7/16" diameter, probably 9/16" or 5/8" and did not hold bolts in the threads.I ordered to cover all eight holes with solder and open new holes in the intervals. This operation was frustrated because of the eight holes only six matched.
I have noticed leakage through about three screws and I tried to tighten them now with cooper washers. Thanks to your helps.Best Regards.

Re: Rear Banjo hub and brake drum.
Fernando, I had a similar problem with one of my hubs. It too had been badly "repaired", and I ended up replacing it. I was able to save my brake drum, and attached the new hub to it.fernando mendes wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 4:23 am... it alreary arrived with its eight bolts different of 7/16" diameter, probably 9/16" or 5/8" and did not hold bolts in the threads.I ordered to cover all eight holes with solder and open new holes in the intervals.

Re: Rear Banjo hub and brake drum.
I am reviewing how it all happened in august 2010.First,from what I record in its notebook the original 7/16" holes or larger than that were plugged and 3/8" holes were drilled in between.

Re: Rear Banjo hub and brake drum.
Today we finally solved a problem that had been going on since 2010 because of the eight screws on the left rear axle end, two didn't match the hub. We slightly enlarged the two holes in the shaft end with a rotary file until we were able to place the two screws completely.
