Kind words, Bob.
Thank you.

Panel bonding-wise, crash repairers must have suitable panel adhesives that are a lot easier to use, and more economical. If I remember, I'll ask my local small-town panel shop what they use.

I am happy with phosphoric acid as a rust converter/stabilizer and continue to use it.

Hello Bob,

What a beautiful GMC CCKW truck you have !!!

Congratulations on restoring that great piece of history 😃😃😃

It really looks great !

Thanks for sharing your repair techniques on the bed repairs , I appreciate your efforts.

The more GMC CCKW's restored in the world, the better !!

I have 3 that all need restoring, and shall be restored .
One is a 1945 Tipper, another a 1942 closed cab Shop Van, and now a 1941 353, that needs a over cab machine gun mount and winch.

I love these trucks !!!

Best Regards,
Ray

Hi Ray,

Thanks very much for the kind words! I really appreciate it.

People often ask me: "So, is your truck finished ?" I kind of chuckle, because with vehicles this old, there is always something to do, something needs cleaning and painting, something needs adjusting, fixing, updating, etc.

Which is OK, since after all it is a hobby, right ? :) It's the trip - not just the destination.

Am greatly looking forward to watching your posts as your projects progress.

Best Regards,

Bob

p.s. Keeping fingers crossed for some warm weather up here next Thursday. Hoping to get the truck out one more time, for Veterans Day. :)

Hello Bob,

I hope to get some work going on the GMC while working on my Jeep restoration as well.

I will make a call today to see if I can get an over the cab MG mount and a set of elusive Troop seats.

Do you have any other project you are working on or plan to restore ?

Best Regards,
Ray

Hi Ray,

I really wish that I had room for another vehicle, especially when I see other CCKWs show up for sale every now and then. However, I'll jut have to be content with the one I have.

Have a few related projects in the works. I purchased a spare transfer case last Fall that I need to finish reassembling. Will start on that soon, now that the weather here is getting colder, and projects are limited to inside. Will document the results here online once I get closer to completion.

Next year, I will do a little more body work on the bed. The driver side has a couple stake pockets that are starting to show some signs of rust, so they will need some attention also. Likewise for one of the front fenders.

Also have a spare carburetor that needs rebuilding.

So, not like I don't have stuff to keep me busy! :)

TTYL..

Bob
