Re: M125 Cargo Truck Cummins V8 300 Powered
I have spent the last several month's pouring concrete and building a pole barn so I can have a place to work on it. I have been in contact with the Mack Museum and have confirmed this is the truck in the article. Only correction is that at the time David Doyle wrote the article the information he had at the time was that the army did the conversion but it was actually done on the assembly line by Mack 2\58 DOD...it is 1 of 1 ever built M125-A1

Fun truck to change tires on. These 10 Tons served thru the early 90's, some could be discovered having WWII dated 14.00-24 replacement tires at that that date.

Re: M125 Cargo Truck Cummins V8 300 Powered
I-95 is about a mile away, back in the days the National Guard support unit used a 10 ton Tractor to haul SP howitzers to the Field Artillery BN 200 miles North, one could hear them for 5-6 minutes before they passed by. The dual exhausts sounded like a gun battle, especially the V-8 LeRoi gas powered ones. The earlier 10 Tons had dual exhausts with horizontal tail pipes at right angles to chassis. I felt bad when they would get into local traffic with those exhausts at passenger car window height. The transmissions and transfer were bolted together similar to Jeep and had a pressurized lube system. If we had to tow a 10 Ton, the propeller shafts had to be removed in order that the gears not burn out due to lack of lubrication.
Fun to drive, lots of hard work to service.

Getting ready for inspection and some much needed maintenance. Going to be installing exhaust brake as well and painting the truck.

Re: M125 Cargo Truck Cummins V8 300 Powered
Well here is our 10-ton my father and myself did a few years back, everything is original on this truck including the tires themselves, just wanted to show people on here that they are out there and they only made less than 500 cargo 10-tons and we have a total of 3 10-tons in our collections which 2 of the 3 are completely been off the frame full restorations, but take care and thanks for posting this I mean it is neat to see the 10-ton group is out there... And I like to see the stories that come from these amazing trucks. Take care and many blessings to all here on the G....

Re: M125 Cargo Truck Cummins V8 300 Powered
Yes sir thanks for sharing...I spoke to you or father several years back. I remember when Kevin Kronlund owned the M125 and M123 that you have. They actually built 552 M125's and 1 of those were built with the Cummins V8 300 making it a M125-A1 which is the truck stumbled across on E-bay back in January. I'm very familiar with the M125's and M123's as I was heavy into them several year's ago... I had 2 M125's and 5 M123's and a M15-A1 trailer at one point...back then I was mainly posting on Steel Soldiers. But when I saw this truck on E-bay I was forced back into the hobby...only wish I had the shop I did back then so I could really go through this truck like I would like to. But for now I will do the best I can with the mean's I have.
