Oh I see Mudflap. I've never attempted to repair one and just wanted to be helpful. Best of luck with the rebuild. :)

Thanks Bob for kind words. I just returned from the generator rebuild shop with some goodies for my 1st. Series G.M.C. engine in my Chevy. I'll be putting some more videos up this weekend.

Does anyone know for sure when the switch was made from the "rubber bushing" torque rods to the "graphite impregnated" bushing torque rods?

I was kinda thinking this was probably a post war update, but after looking thru some of the TMs, it looks like the switch was made sometime in '43 or early '44.

ORD 9 - SNL G-508 (July '45) lists them both, so we know the new ones are in the system by then.

TM9-1801, Mar 44, talks about both kinds, and mentions that they are interchangeable.

It also shows a drawing of what looks like the newer (graphite impregnated bushing) type of end:

TM 10-1563, Jan 43, references only the rubber bushing type. It shows a cutaway diagram, as well:

Not sure what other manuals were released between these two. Any that were, might help nail down the switchover time more closely.

Also wondering why the service kits, with the new pins and bushings, never made it into the parts manuals ? Could these have been released by parties other than the US, perhaps one of the NATO allies that utilized these trucks in the post war period ?

Best Regards...

The "Press In" CCKW Bushings did exist. I have a pair of NOS in my spares. They do not show in the SNL's.

Thx, Joe.

Any PNs or other markings on them ? Do you think that they were made by GM, or possibly aftermarket produced ?

Best Regards...
