Skagit Yarder on 1944 Diamond T.
Hey Gents. I took one for the team today boys. I left my house around 1200 hrs. en route to see the truck that is posted on CL, upon arrival I climbed back on the fence about procurement. The owner of said truck QUICKLY CURED me of the indecision that was abound in my heart. I climbed down from the fence back onto my side where safety of my Benjamin's reigned . AGAIN and not surprisingly the story, price and willingness to let another W.W. 2 truck be saved was thwarted by a greedy rust hoarding moron.
THIS truck's cabin would have needed a master body-mans touch whose talent is far beyond my ability. The sheet metal was just about the same thickness as Bible paper and the deep rot was worse. The ad is a number of years old and in it the door is still attached to the cab, but not today. The hinges had the same depth and color of rot as the rest of the truck, so the door had rotted off quite some time ago.
My offer was for him to keep the yarder and I'd buy the truck with "O.B.O." in mind, as the ad says. I had it in my mind for around $500.00, maybe a little more. He said he'd keep the yarder but wouldn't budge too far from the $2K asking price. He tried to panic me a bit by saying there was another interested party, but that doesn't work on me anymore. I told him if the other guy doesn't buy it call me back and we'll make a deal, MAYBE. I am not trying to down the man but in reality, it is just not worth $2000.00. Maybe $500.00 tops. If a replacement cab COULD be found it wouldn't be cheap. I took some photos of today's adventure, enjoy.
Original ad photo.
My photos from here on.
Pass. Door leaning against front bumper.
Dash Panel just behind windshield frame.
Headlight Bucket appears to made by Guide. Looks an awful lot like Chevy/Jimmy buckets.
Passenger side, bottom of door jamb where bottom hinge should be.
There were more photos that showed just how badly rusted away this truck is but for some reason my image resizer won't allow the G503 Album Index page to read them and the pic. winds up being grey. That is all...........

Good call on leaving, that cab is too far gone for anyone but a die hard in love with that particular vehicle. Also it ran when parked....30 years ago? after likely being abused by operators that did zero PMCS.
Thanks for the photo's. I found good old "paint" program on most every Windows computer seems to resize quickly, and if trying for a direct attachment to the posts, you need something like 249kb and below in size before it will allow an upload.

Interesting old truck and yarder. I am particularly interested in the Skagit yarder. I have a Skagit B30 yarder and am looking for some parts. I know this post was about the truck but wondering if you have any info. on the yarder. Judging by the pictures, I'm guessing it's somewhere WA. Can anyone provide any further details? I'd be interested in tracking it down to see if it might be available. Appreciate any feedback.
