CCKW. SAVE !!

Post by vwsf » Wed Oct 20, 2021 7:28 am

I am not very familiar with these vehicles but I’m told it is a CCKW 6 x 6 is at the recycle yard in Sonora California in preparation to be scrapped. Looks fairly decent to me just hoping that someone can save it from the scrapper if nothing else the tires lotta be worth it they look really good. Name of the business is RS metal recycler in Sonora California I have a photograph I could text to someone who would be interested but all in all please somebody out there save this from the metal shedder
Thank you

Stopped by and looked at the truck. Engine/transmission is now gone. The frame has plate steel welded over the serial number on the frame, but I did find an O.A. Smith stamp on it(St Louis Plant). It's a banjo axled truck with most of the drivelines and transfercase. Spoke to the bossman there and he said $800 for the whole truck, and if it's not sold soon it will be "heading to South Korea" in a week or two in his next load.

Hello Chris,

Do you have the number for the boss there ?

If they do chop it, which is terrible, I would at least like to see if I can buy about 20 inches from each rear frame rail to add to my 1941 GMC that had its frame shortened for some unknown reason.

It would be a perfect match to save my frame if he would cut the sections off for me, and ship them to Florida, or if. G member in the area could ship them to me that would be great !

Thanks,
Ray

Hello Chris,

Would you happen to have the number to the place ?

Thanks,
Ray
