Question about the soft top doors on a CCKW...

Post by RedCross184 » Wed Sep 12, 2018 9:59 pm

Well, here I am bugging everyone one here once again with me trying to learn something on the G. I have these doors and they are all left side doors in case your wondering, but my point of this post is to learn about these markings on the doors and what they mean, and any help would be great for a rookie like myself in this business. But I will be shooting all the doors I have maybe in the next few days here, and again they are all left side soft doors for the CCKW. But thanks for your time an effort to teaching me something on here...

The question is are these doors worth getting anything for them? I mean does anyone want this type of door for there CCKW? I mean I have left side no rights and it is going to be hard to getting rid of these is what I am thinking but then again I know that there are people that might want to buy them and put the canvas on them the way they would of came from a US manufacture place. The hardware is all there and it is solid and nothing really wrong with the doors. Any thoughts? Thanks...

ANY canvas side doors for the CCKW are hard to find. These left ones are valuable. Back when I was looking for a set, I found a right one and it was a couple of years later that I found a left one! Someone needs those left doors!!

Well that makes my day because I have all left doors here. And why are the left ones rare? Just trying to learn...

Hand signals. It's a lot of work to recover the Open Cab CCKW Doors, and many Rivets involved. To convert to RH, new hinges will be needed to fabricate.

I see all Left Hands, ( there is no doubt, been seeing them for 6+ Decades).
LH have hand signal hole, RH do not. Look carefully at the hinges and compare hinges of the examples, LH and RH Hinges are mirror images. I haveone NOS Set of GI ISSUE Doors for a future Open Cab stored in my CCKW Treasure Chest.. .

Look at the Part Numbers.

You will have to make new RH Upper and Lower Hinges.RH Doors do not have the opening for hand signals.

Well first off that makes sense that the little doors would not be on the right side of the cab since the driver is doing all the signaling on his end of things. But the hinges you would have to modify for sure then is what your saying??

Yes.
Russ Jones (Off Road Floater) used to fabricate Hinges whenever we made NOS door over with new GI Canvas and windows.
