Nice to see your truck again, Alex. Will be cool to see how things come along.

Gotta say though, cinder blocks make me nervous. :( Be careful.

Tony
Cinder blocks were temporary to get the big wheels off. Now it's sitting lower.

Getting all the tools prepped for removing all the body components.

Ok first question:

How do the front and rear brake drums come off? The technical manual says to "remove the three screws that attach each brake drum" showing the same screws for the front and back drums.

I'm not seeing any retaining screws...what am I missing? Took off the bolts that hold the axles in and all that got me was gear oil all over the floor.

Hi Alex,
The later trucks had demountable brake drums ( drum is mounted outboard of the hub, easily removed with 3 flat head screws. I believe that’s what’s being described in your TM.
The earlier trucks have what’s called non demountable hub ( shown in your pic).
The brake drum is mounted inboard of the hub, you have to remove the entire hub Assy to access the brakes.
The later hubs are a huge improvement.

Well lucky me!

Thanks!
