G506 Bomb Service Truck Found (7128)

Post by zepher11 » Sun May 23, 2021 6:45 pm

Went to the Ron Fitzpatrick open house today. However, on the way there I spotted this G506. Too good to pass up. Doubt I'll ever find the rear bomb loader, fenders, seat, etc..., but the engine's all there. Actually, I don't know too much about these trucks, but It will be cool nonetheless:

Yet another project lined up. Still, give it a week and you will have a bit of spare time on your hands!

I really didn't look at the cans too closely. I have like 50 WWII Jerrycans, so I ended up leaving those behind. I know where they are, however...just in case...

Likely outside for the time being. May never find the rear fenders, or get to it, but I will give it a go if I can. Seemed too good to pass up and leave it there. :)

Thanks. Yes, it is really pretty straight, and there really isn't too much rust except in the lower rear of the fenders/cab area. Other than that, it's pretty decent.

I've always wanted a CCKW, and when I saw this I figured I can get my big truck fix in a small package. Would be a lot easier to move around and trailer when/if needed.

If anyone know of some original rear fenders out there, let me know. I'm sure they will be impossible to locate, but maybe can find some before I start dinking around with this.

Thank you. I think they're gone. I talked to John yesterday.

Appreciate it. I'll need to bone up on G506 parts, and keep an eye out for any BST specific parts that may be out there. I suspected I wouldn't find the BST specific parts, but it'll give me something to keep an eye out for just in case. I figured I could make some type of bed for it eventually.

Recently saw a FB post of someone selling off a bunch HMV project vehicles, parts etc to clear his storage. Seems to me one of the photos showed a BST hoist frame. May be other parts as well...I'll see if I can find the post again.

I did see that posting. He posts that yard as for sale from time to time. Actually, only about an hour and a half south of me.

Each time after a few days he pulls the ad. I don't think he has ever sold anything. Twice before when he listed I sent messages. No response. Not sure what's up with that. Maybe one day he'll really list those and sell something. Would be nice.
