Hello Hans,

You have a beautiful WC54 Truck !!
This should be an awesome restoration , given tour great skills as shown on your incredible jeep restoration !!

Did you make the roof seam joint insert between the roof panel and the metal above the windshield panel ?
Or is that a part that is available as a replacement ?

As far as I know, there are no such seam inserts available in the USA.

Keep us posted !

Best Regards,
Ray

Hello Ray,
I makes al the pieces by my self. The roof seam joint was a strip of metal which a bought in a metal store. The original joint is hollow, mine is massive. I made clips of small pieces of metal and drilled slots in the joint. With a locking pliers i locked the joint and clips on the roof, welded and grind it flat.

Hello Hans,

Thanks for that information.
Very interesting !
I have a WC - 12 that needs a new roof seam installed, and I found that I could hammer a metal brake line flat , to use as a seam to match the original one.
I tested a piece, and it looks good as a test piece. I will keep at it !!

You are restoring at a great pace !!
Keep up your good works !!

I also have a 1942 WC-54 that is waiting for restoration.

Best Regards,
Ray

At the top of the passenger door,i found a name a while ago. See picture. I think the following name is on it: Böhma. The Ambu has served after the second war in Norway. I think its a name from Norway. I try to find an old list of soldiers who served in the norwegian army. So far no luck. Does anyone have connections in Norway for this problem?

I also try to find a piece of history of the WC 54 in the war. I have the buildcart and i data plate( Schwabische gemund rebuilt shop)
I found a website ( https://www.usarmygermany.com/Sont.htm? ... tOrdGp.htm ) but the webmaster is not responding. The website ( https://www.med-dept.com/unit-histories ... -separate/) doesn't answer either. Lists of medical items but no vehicles.

Has anyone ever looked for lists of WC54 hood numbers , such as those of the jeeps there are ??
Gr Hans
Above the name is a temporary draft strip

Hello Hans,

Very interesting that you found the old US markings under the paint !!
Hopefully you can find the unit info somewhere under the paint as well.

Keep up your good work !

Merry Christmas !!!

Ray

Made some progress again. One more square from the cross and then the other side of the Dodge. I'll leave the little cross alone for a while. Between the large cross and the small one is still a layer of white. I'll leave this alone for a while because I want to see if I can link times to this to maybe find something more about my Ambu.
Image

I'm working on a photo database. Hoodnr's and division based on old photos. My Ambu was built under contract no. W-398-QM-w-652 till W-374-ORD-2864, 11636 Vehicles.
I try to find an other Ambu hoodnr close to mine with a photo proof Division. Then investigate how many ambulances served in that Division. The number of vehicles in the division and difference between both hoodnr's numbers gives me a good idea of where my ambulance might have served.
Image
All so i found,i think it's an 8 on my left bumperret and some white under the 8. So there are already a lot of divisions that do not start with an 8.
