Chevy 1 1/2 Ton Cab Over Army Maintenance truck for sale.
Well I was asked to sale this truck for a friend of mine. So please bare with me here as I try to put this down in words here. So here goes nothing.
This truck they only made 300 of them total. This truck comes with all the tools inside it as well. This truck was a full off the frame restoration. All the photos of the restoration are included with this sale. And again I want to be clear that ALL the tools and everything you see in the photos is part of this sale. The current owner has this vehicle inside from the elements. So, I know that there is going to be a lot of questions here, and if you have them please send me an email here or my personal one, and if I can not answer the questions I will make sure that I get in touch with the owner and get them answers as soon as I can for you.
The asking price for this is going to be at $50,000 USD or best offer, and this vehicle has a clear title as well.
Now I am going to load about 40 images of this here for you to look at. Again please bare with me for this is NOT my vehicle and I am helping a friend to getting rid of it. So any questions I will do my best to answering it for you.
You can get awhile of me here again or click my user name here on the G and get my personal email from there. Thanks and many blessings to you all here.

Re: Chevy 1 1/2 Ton Cab Over Army Maintenance truck for sale.
This is a GMC AFKX-352 and yes, very scarce in this condition. It sat on my drive way for a few years (after a cross country haul from Frank Buck's barn). I was wondering where it ended up.
The truck was one of the last AFKX-352s made and was shipped to the UK under a Lend Lease contract in 1942. It never served in the US Army and that explains the condition . They did an outstanding restoration in the UK as fully documented in the photo binders which depict the tear-down to the bare skeleton. The original linoleum floor was preserved... Yeah, that kind of restoration. Frank purchased it out of the Budge collection in England in the early 90s as I recall.
The one thin binder shown next to the camo net should (still) have the research I prepared on the AFKX-352 series (1940-42) to document the VIN and Registration numbers, body types, parts/maintenance manuals, contracts etc. in an XL file. I used several sources to cross reference that data and accounted for most of the vehicles produced, as well as a few known "survivors". The SNL pertaining to each US version, as well as the Brit "S/M" numbers were also identified. One or two period photos of a Brit AFKX are (were) also in the binder. Never found an original SNL however.
The interior tan was the color -- Coronado Tan -- it had when it left GMC under the Brit Defense Aid contract. It appears in the parts manual as well. When it arrived in the UK it was repainted externally in the black/green "Mickey Mouse ears" camo and assigned a Brit registration number. That camo and markings were recovered, and re-applied, to the truck during it's UK restoration. Frank painted it as US Army after he bought it. The (fictitious) bumper markings to the 123rd Ordnance Bn (1AD) actually helped Frank sell it... that was one of my units in Germany.
I doubt you will find a nicer AFKX-352 in the United States.

Well, thanks for the letting me know the history of this vehicle and to me I tried to look for this in Doyles books and I could not even find a photograph of it anywhere. And if anyone know Doyle he is the king of getting vehicles done in the sense of getting them into the books for people to read and enjoy. But the question is who is going to need this for there collection is my question. It does not fit my collections of military vehicles here, but I hope it ends up in great hands with someone that will enjoy this for years to come here. Take care and many blessings to you.

Re: Chevy 1 1/2 Ton Cab Over Army Maintenance truck for sale.
The good news is that this truck was a Spare Parts truck, not a small arms repair, tire repair or machine shop version. They have tools and/or machines that would be a challenge to ID let alone locate (you'd need the rare SNL for starters). No machines were originally in this van, instead, plenty of bench space and parts drawers. There are spots for 10-12 (as I recall) Ordnance Small Arms Chests (the type with the sliding drawers and removable front/tray). The cans you see on one lower shelf are 1944 GI "Animal Glue"... probably of the equine variety. Nice to see that they stayed with it.
The truck was missing the monster Prentiss Vice with pivoting jaw on the one bench (it's clearly depicted in a period photo which is the only way I know what it looked like and the maker). I know where such a vise is now -- long after I sold the truck... Never fails. There also was another, smaller bench-mounted tool missing from the rear of one bench -- I believe it was a bench grinder.
This baby is ~ 10' wide, 20' long and 13' tall -- one of the reasons it's not still sitting at my house. This truck could be the centerpiece of a very cool, mobile, Ordnance small arms or maintenance display. You'll find far more CCKW versions before you see one of these in this condition. Good luck with the sale. I hope it finds a good home.
