G506 Panel Van / Bomb Truck Rear Fender and Seat Questions

Hi all,

A few questions about seats and fenders for the G506 panel van and bomb truck variations.

Does anyone know if the front seats in the G7128 / M6 bomb service truck and G7105 panel truck are the same or are they different? I suspect the latter, but figured I'd ask.

Following up on that, does anyone have seats for the panel truck for sale? In addition to the seats themselves, I'm also seeking leads on the frames that mount them to the floor/seat riser. Tony is going to post some shots of his panel seats and I suspect I also need to track down a panel that covers the well underneath the seats.

Likewise, am I correct in my assumption that rear fenders appear to be the same shape and diameter, but the bomb truck version is narrower because the rear wheels were single as opposed to dual?

On the assumption that my assumption is correct, does anyone have rear fenders for either the bomb truck or panel van that they want to sell?

Sincerely,

John

I found a picture from ww2 in the pacific showing an m6 with dual rear wheels. I have duals on my m6 because using single wheels on an axke made for duals makes their track narrow. Being short, high, and narrow gives them a feeling of being unstable at speed. M37 fenderettes (2) with a piece welded between appears to make the right sized rear fender for duals. I will see if the m37 fended has the radius as a k51 panel rear fender

Hi Kelley,

Thanks for your note.

In looking at more photos of the trailer fenders, I'm thinking the outside radius is bigger than the fenders that originally came on the van. That said, I never thought about M37 fenders. If you have the chance, could you post a shot of one of your M37 fenders and then another shot of one of your Chevy truck front fenders? From Tony's photos of his van, I think the radius that forms the outside lip on the original van rear fenders is very similar to the radius of the front fenders, particularly down by the running board.

No rush on my account. This is still an information gathering exercise.

Sincerely,

John

Hi Guys,
What about fenders from a Ben Hur trailer would that work?.

Hi Ian,

I had started another thread in the trailer section on that. viewtopic.php?f=28&t=302964

I think the trailer fenders have the same overall shape, but from photos, it looks like the outside radius on the lip that forms the 90 degree bend is larger than the original van fenders. I'm waiting for some comparison photos to see if that's the case.

The M37 rear fender is roughly 44-1/2'' out to out and has a +/-1'-10'' radius. The outer edge is turned down 2-1/2'' with a +/-1'' radius (similar to the Chevy front fender). It also has a wire bead finishing off the edge, see pic...

Thanks for that update. This looks like it might hold some possibility. Just out of interest, what's the length from front edge to back on the fender?

Outboard to inboard or forward to aft?

If by outboard, you mean disregarding the outside lip and just going from front edge to rear edge of the fender, that would be good.

If needed, I can draw a quick picture to clarify what I was trying to describe.

Outside of fender to inboard most edge - 6''
Forward to aft 44-1/2''

Excellent. I'll check out what the van has and it's quite possible a pair of these could be grafted onto what's left of the van fenders.

Two quick follow ups:

Is the gauge of the steel about the same thickness as the Chevy front fenders?
Are the M37 fenders common or rare?

Many thanks for your assistance.
