INTERNATIONAL METRO VANS

Post by Ben Dover » Sat Apr 14, 2018 3:16 pm

How many remember those 40's-50's USAF Blue IH Metros that were suddenly sprinkled all over Air Force Bases, they were everywhere, especially on flight lines? It was neat to see them driven by drivers that were standing up at times. I should have bought one in the 60's to restore.

I see them pop up on craigslist occasionally, they are cool vans and even a few still are blue with markings! Love them and most Internationals till 74 or so, but either the timing was bad (no money or space) or they were in Vermont or somewhere on the opposite side of the country (too far away :(

I also ate a lot of hot dogs and hamburgers out of these that were converted to rolling diners that we called "gut trucks".
