Re: GTB Build
Thought I would post a picture of the first GTB I had ever seen. This GTB was at Fredrick Army Air Base in Frederick, OK. The guys name was Tim I think that owns it. Hours and hours along with $$$ and hard work all started with this GTB causing an obsession.

Re: GTB Build
Ordered the wiring from Tom's Engine barn. I will try and remember to do a play by play of the harness build.

Re: GTB Build
Wiring. I took the conduit off of the old harness and found the color and wire size needed. I calculated lengths and ordered the cloth wire from Tom's Engine Barn. I then started assembly with my GTB maintenance book close by. It shows a rough picture of the routing. BTW the photo showing the harness coming out of the hole under the air cleaner is incorrect. I moved it to the other hole shown in the same picture. I looked back at the manual and had a Opps moment. Here are some photos. As you can see I have not finished the rear. The harness gets feed through the hydrovac booster brackets and I will have to wait to install that first. There are four main harnesses. The rear section with tail, brake, black out and the one branch out to the fuel sender midway. The far rear harness that connects to the bed and joins with the rear harness at the end of the frame (similar to GPW) The front harness for the headlights, black out marker lights and horn. The instrument harness which runs along the left inner fender panel and down to the concealment cap (the junction where the instrument panel and front and rear harnesses are joined. The headlamp buckets and black out markers connect to the front harness in their respective positions. The main feed wire runs inside the cowl with the solenoid wire to the main battery terminal. The solenoid wire connects to the small terminal on the solenoid. A small two wire harness goes from the brake light switch to the instrument harness and a small harness from the dimmer switch to the instrument harness. I will post pictures of the connections when possible.

Re: GTB Build
This weekend I mocked up some more body panels after firing up the engine. That engine without it's muffler sounds like an aircraft engine. Anyway some more photos.

Re: GTB Build
The GTB manual shows a picture of a fuel pump that looks just like the GPW. It differs in that the cam action arm is bent upward to fit between the cam and the inside of the block on the passenger side. The photo of the two pumps shows the pump taken off of the original GTB engine (obviously having been replaced in the last 77 years) beside that pump in the photo is one of my old GPW pumps. BTW the GTB pump in the picture is upside down. You will see the difference in the action lever. I took the action arms off for a comparison photo by removing the pivot pin. I then took my new JMP GPW pump from Ron and replaced the action lever with the old GTB as you will see below.

Re: GTB Build
As you may or may not know. I found a crate of two NOS hydrovac units for my GTB. I took one apart and went through it. tested it with my vacuum pump. It works . You may notice the old one on the floor in pieces. The cylinder was just too pitted to mess with.

Any updates on the GTB, I've enjoyed following the thread and hope to see more about it.
