Well mine might not be the best example to go by... I did not do a 100% restore like your doing.

However that said I still have a foot starter to press and crank motor. That's obviously the red cable.

The black (ground) on mine goes to the block from the battery post.

Now I would measure that for you BUT my truck ain't here to measure.

I got it on display at a dodge dealership locally.

I should get it back in a few weeks if you ain't figured it out by then

window side glass and windshield assembly installed yesterday... the drivers side fits nice, rolls up and down on the NOS regulators beautifully, but the passender side is a tad too tight. not sure whats causing it. tried adjusting, but without success... I guess Ill try taking it apart again and see if I don't have the window channel perhaps crooked or sticking out a tab making the tight fit?

windshield assembly is another animal.. I am working on adjusting it.. a little here, a little there and its fitting a bit better each time, but still a little to snug to close easily.. still, I am making progress
Dave,
What thickness of glass setting tape did you use for your windows? Same for all, ow different between front, side and rear?

Thanks

Andy,
I wold recommend starting a separate topic in the Power Wagon section of this forum. You will get much help as many of us can attest. When you post it, be more specific with regards to what spare parts you need as that will drive the answers better. for now I would recommend Vintage Power Wagons or Midwest Military. There are many great forum members who have spare parts, so start a new topic and give a short list of what you need.

as my truck approaches about two years since "finishing" it (yea right)
I've decided to clean up under the hood, items I was missing (oil filter) and stuff that wasn't right (oil filler, wrong "tube" type ignition cable loom, wiring, etc)

besides, two years running around these dusty back roads has left the truck filthy.. its no show truck!

in any case, as of today, I'm finished for now under the hood, wish I took a before pic to show difference.
here is my "new" cleaned up engine bay with NOS canister, lines, etc.

while at it I put in the proper oil filler tube with drip ring, a NOS breather cap w/ chain, the proper ignition wire loom, etc

while all was off the engine, I spruced up the now 2 year old paint, repainted the radiator, starter and other parts so it looks fresh again.

I guess I should have waited on this pic as I touched up where the socket removed the paint from the bolts here and there.

still a lot wrong about things under there.. I DID replace some of the modern wiring I originally installed for vintage cloth stuff, but more still to do.

and im sure a purist will notice a lot more I didn't do right. but for now, Im happy with it :D

Nice job Daveyboy, wish mine looked as nice.
In reference to the junior oil filter bracket and oil fill tube...shouldn’t they be black? Just wondering not criticizing by all means.

Looks great Dave!

It appears to me that the oil tube is silver/grey like the engine and maybe the oil bracket as well. However, I can't make out the oil bracket really good to be certain:

I think after enlarging it. I'm going to go with silver/grey for the oil canister bracket on the head:

well that answers that question.

glad you posted a factory photo for our reference, Zeph.

TRAVELFIX and I were just in discussion about the proper color of the canister mounting bracket. I too thought it looked weird not being painted black.

I guess by mistake I did it right

We also discussed the color of the oil filler tube being black.

I left mine the grey (as I received it :) ) and glad I did that also

on another note:

anyone fathom a guess why the ignition wire loom has that big hole in it?

what's that for?

does something ELSE mount to it, perhaps other truck applications use this hole?

One other thing I've noticed:

On the oil canister brackets, (the ones that wrap around the canister)
I've seen both the single, wide version as well as two separate, narrower type.

This factory photo shows the single, wider one band style.

Any idea if this is a 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton thing or is it a manufacturer thing?

Also of interest note there is no decals on the oil filter at this time.

My NOS unit came with decals so I'm thinking the manufacturer put decal on the units before dipping in cosmolene. Wonder why this factory photo shows no decals

PS amazing how one can get so into detail on such things!

Reminds me (vaguely) of the wavey washer debate on the jeep section!!
