ORDERS ARE SHIPPING G506, G508 firewall insulator pads

Post by 42cargo » Wed Jun 19, 2013 7:16 pm

We are ready to go into production. See the end of this thread for info on the products and how to order.

Hi all,

I'm looking into the feasibility of having firewall insulator pads reproduced that would fit on both G506 and G508 trucks. As discussed previously, there are no current reproductions that come anywhere near close to the originals and NOS or good used ones are practically unobtainable.

If a repro were available that looked like the original, was made of similar material and was priced in roughly the same range as the current reproductions ($120 or so) how many people would be interested in purchasing them for their Chevy or GMC closed cab trucks? (I don't know if the open cab GMCs had pads or if they were the same as the closed cab.)

Reply here and I'll keep a tally.

Thanks,

John

Thanks for all the responses. Looks like we're at about 14 or so at the moment. Good progress.

Looks like we also will have access to an original if the fabricator needs it for a template.

One thing I didn't think about is the potential application for the civilian market. Although the civilian trucks didn't have these, it could be that some people might like to have them to cut down on noise and heat.

Stay tuned.

Great news, John. Thanks for confirming that. Anything that increases the potential customer base ups our chances of getting a vendor to make these. I'll cross post this thread on the larger truck forum.
