Yes, my understanding that the M677 was the military version of the Jeep FC170 with the crew cab. The USMC required a diesel engine to reduce on board gasoline storage on ships. This data plate indicates that this M677 was the second one produced.

This one has the Cherilist 3 cyl diesel engine still running in it. Saw a brief blurb on Low Rider car show at a jeep event and a gentleman had one of these. Stated only about 80 of the M566's left and only about 10 with the original diesel engine in it. Fact? or Fiction? I have also read that only 30 of these trucks are known to exist, regardless of the engine type.
