G506 t-case nut lock needed

Post by forestry4evr » Fri Jul 03, 2015 6:10 am

As the topic title states, I am looking for:

0803 4.471 3659553 nut lock

Here is my artistic rendering along with the needed part:

Image

I need three of them. A reasonable facsimile would be fine, so if any of you can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you guys have never poked around under the shaft covers on your t-cases; the shaft nuts seem to have a common problem of unscrewing themselves if this nut lock fails. I have remnants of two that have done this, and have heard reports of others.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Hi Paul,

I just found this thread doing a search for a part number. I'm sure youve figured this out by now, but the number and the part you've sketched are related, but not the same. I believe that the info you are looking for are:

3659553 - Nut (shown as AQ in the SNL exploded parts diagram)
3659535 - Lock (shown as AK in the SNL exploded parts diagram)

The Lock - 3659535 is used to lock the Nut - 3659553 in place on the shaft.

Any way, what brought me here was the search for Nut - 3659553. I have several of the Lock - 3659535 if you happen to still be looking.

Hey Paul I'm just spitballin' here, why not take one of them washers to a sheet metal shop and have them cut out of the same gauge sheet steel with their plasma CNC table? I might could throw in for enough to repair 2 transfer cases if it would help reduce the cost. What do you think?

Hi Dave,

I saw your response to Paul, from when I dredged up his 5 year old email. If I know Paul, he dealt with this issue long ago.

If you need some of the lock washers, just message me your address. ( I probably have it, but then I'd have to go digging through my phone for it)

Hey Kirk, thanks for the offer buddy. The t-case I took out of "the pretzel" a few years ago has what looks like low miles on the gears. It is apart, the lock washers I have for it are 100% good. Washington States Gov. declared "stay at home, stay health" mandatory for at least two weeks, so I'm gonna attempt to get it back together with fresh seals and everything else while I'm waiting to return to normal life. The ones who run the world just had to find something to slow the economy down with. Right?

Hey guys,

Fortunately those locks were sourced many moons ago.

Hi Paul,

Great to hear from you. Always enjoy your updates! Waiting on some parts I need to re-assemble my transfer case. The inside looked like new, but had one of the shaft nuts (same as the one you were needing a lock for) backed off, and destroyed itself by spalling inside the bearing cap. Good lord that transfer case is a brute!

I hope you are staying well, and practicing your social distancing :D

Hi Jon,
Good to hear from you. Hope you are staying safe and well! I have reached out to a couple of vendors, but if they dont have them available, I'll hit you up. Things seem a little slower paced these days, almost as if people are distracted or something :D

Take care!
