for sale NOS military under dash heater

Post by Radmonster » Wed Sep 11, 2019 1:39 pm

Was cleaning the garage and now I am looking to get rid of this NOS heater I have... not sure what it goes to or who made it (Im assuming a truck?). I will try to do a little more research. what you see is what I have ( some literature, a dash drill pattern, and the heater box.

No Idea on worth so I'm up for any reasonable offer!

Hi Radmonster,
I'm interested but would like to know the voltage of the blower motor?
Thanks!

Neat, would try to help ID it, based on the engine compartment photo, was wondering if there were any additional illustrations in the sheets which may help narrow down your application.
Seems like it would mount under the fresh air intake (like center of the dodge dash) which would increase the air flow, but it doesn't look like a DOdge engine compartment there.

ok so the papers I have told me nothing of real importance so I decided to pull it apart! Looks like the motor is 12v and was made in 43. I found a patent number 2.322.041

Do not give up so easy, note tye reference to WHITE Part N0's on the instruction pages. This means it goes to a wartime White Motor Co. product.
During WWII White vehicles were;

1940 ---950 x 6---------------------------4 Ton 6x6
1941-1942 666----------------------------6 Ton 6x6
1942-43 M-2-----------------------------1/2 Track
1943 M-3------------------------------ 1/2 track
1943 T30 75MM Gun Carriage--------1/2 Track
19942-43 M-4 81MM Mortar Carrier 1/2 Track
1943 M13 Multi Gun Carriage---------1/2 Track
1940-43 M-3A1 Scout Car-------------- 4X4

Hang on to it for a while and do not sell it for less than $250.00 (Or More)
This is super rare. I do not recognize the engine compartment, but this NOS Heater should make some White product salivate.
I may even be interested in it just for the fun of it.

Yes! Yes! Yes!
I have been sorting out GI Issue mystery parts for a little while Check the paperwork and the housing for more numbers. There has to be a White number for the Heater Kit somewhere.

Seeing the labeling of "White" and them calling it a "crew compartment" would narrow it down to Armored vehicle (to me), as a truck has a "cab"
Looking at a halftrack under dash might tell where the fire extinguisher is located and if indeed the new heater heater was installed would you have to relocate it.

One last thought on it, "White" may or not be the "White" motor company, there are likely a hundred companies out there called "White" which may have made and furnished many kits and assemblies for the government. I know it's not an Armored Dragon Wagon and an m8 doesn't have an angled hood assembly, the aircleaner? assemblies should be a dead giveaway to the vehicles ID.

PS: Somewhere I had a factory photo I posted a few months back from National Archives on the Tracked or Armored site of the hafltracks dash area...looking for it now. WAW

Here's the White dash, looks like it has a heater already installed in this variant, might still be Scout Car or refit of earlier version. Size seems about correct and fire extinguisher is off to right side.

I'd say we are getting warm, I can remember seeing Heaters under the dash of fresh surplus Half Tracks during my younger years, but they would not generate any interest back then.
Note the Box Section on the unit in the photo and the similar feature on the NOS you have.
I'll go thru sme of my Dixie Parts catalogs later.

The fun is in the chase!
