Key question WC56-57-58

Post by Marco GPW 81877 » Sat Jan 31, 2015 1:46 pm

Hi all,

What type of keys were used on the WC56/57/58 Command cars' tail gate?
Is it H600, H700, H800 or something else? A friend of mine aquired a WC57 from France, locks seem to be original, but no keys were with the sale (luckily all locks are unlocked now ...)

Thanks for any information

Marco

Hi Marco
I just bought a WC56 that came from France in around the mid 70's. I also need keys for the trunk. Were you ever able to find some for yours and where did you get them from?
Thanks Mark

Have you two consulted the TM-10 or the SNL's for that WC?
CC-947079 is a good candidate as it is listed for the Ignition Lock, Spare Tire Lock, and the Tailgate.
It is a good assumption that this key, 947079, may be an H-700 as the only WC Spare Tire Locks I have witnessed have the H-700.
Check the various WC Parts manuals to see if H-700 comes up.
Did anyone ever try an H-700?

I have a WC56 and it uses H-700 keys for the tailgate.

Thanks for the input. Would anyone know where I could find a H-700 key to try. I am kinda of new to the military vehicle hobby. I just recently found and purchased 2 International M-2-4 trucks that have been on the same farm since 1950 and always barn/shed kept and a 1942 WC56 that has been on the farm since 1976 and never driven since]. I tried posting pictures but it seems that the resolution is to high for this sight to load.

Mark;

I'd love to see your new M-2-4's! Keys should be available from most venders. Ron has them for sure!

I have one NOS rear door handle.

And...it has not a H700 key.
