Take your MV to a Car Show and have some fun

Post by newc » Sat Jun 30, 2018 4:27 pm

Hi all; Decided to take 'Old Reliable' G-506 out to a Saturday local car show and show it off to the car folks. Well, it was a real hit and the Veterans and their families visited all day. Kids were crawling all over it while their adults were there to catch a fall [none]. So I stuck around for the awards and got a two-for! Kids choice, and best stock 4X4 !!
You should all consider an outing like this... new crowd... lots of fun. Newc in Oregon

Very nice! I take my Dodge WC52, GPW, and Dodge WC16 Command Car to local car shows every once in a while. They don't generate any interest due to all the club hot rods and rat rods. It is California though. Still fun to get out to a show like that anyway. Congrats on the awards!

Just drive thru and stop in any small town USA and watch the people come up to u.

I could barely leave the gas station in a small town on my way from mcalester ok to Chickasaw ok.

Positive Comments and likes!
Questions where I got it, what I did to it, etc

Always generates conversation where I take the WC12.

I'm waiting for the day someone says:
"I got one of these at my barn... intersted?"

I hear others who have found command cars, jeeps and other military trucks this way.

Every drive is a parade and every stop is a car show.

I have a WC54 ambulance and an 1969 Plymouth Adam-12 squad car. When I go to a car show people go right by 100K cars and go straight to mine. People love Army trucks and service vehicles (tow trucks, police cars, etc). If I take the either one to do errands around town they draw a crowd everywhere I go.

Son took the GPW rig to a local car show yesterday and came home with another $5 trophy, but that's not why we do it. It's got a story to tell and we enjoy telling it.
This is our first full year doing the car show local events and parades and it's enjoyable to sit and tell the story.

I use my WC 12 on an average of 4 days a week. Rain, light snow, cold & hot weather doesn't keep me from a coffee run. Whether I'm at a rally or getting fuel, I'm always delayed with picture taking and questions. I just turned 22K miles a couple of weeks ago. I've had the truck for approx. 15 years now so I guess you could say I use it. Keep 'em rollin Bob

I always enjoy taking my partner shopping in the jeep. People flock around it as soon as i pull up. There is much chat and photo taking, and i thoroughly enjoy it. And by the time i have finished talking, as if by magic, my good lady, Jackie has finished the shopping. Great stuff. :D
