In the Army we call that a "ground guide"
Sometimes we will even have them wear an orange vest and whistle/radio.

also......make sure the ground guide knows what he is doing..
I had a civilian worker back me up one day, as I was backing..it did not feel right, so I stopped got out and walked to the back of the vehicle. No joke, I was about 2 inches from a very solid pole!!.. I looked at the dude and said " you are suppose to be backing me!...you almost ran me into this pole!!"
His reply was " I am not the one driving the truck"...the whole time I was backing, he was waving me backwards with his hands.
He did tell me later on he had never been a back up guide, but had seen them, and they were all waving their arms around...

With armor, you need two well trained ground guides. One in front and one in back. It adds all the safety and takes away all the stress. After my brain injury I cant guide a vehicle any more, or drive one.

The guy who did this had a"brain fart" the guy in the "I DID THAT" stickers is just senile
There was a guy in the turret to be a "lookout" and inform the driver but the driver took no direction for anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is now restricted from driving unless I AM THERE GIVING HIM DIRECTIONS
and thank God for Hagerty!
