Looking for a halftrack to work on

Post by Latrine_Commander » Fri May 13, 2022 8:23 pm

Hello,

My name is John. My son and I are looking for a restorable halftrack. Any condition considered as long as it is priced right. He is starting college as a mechanical engineering student. So, he needs to keep busy... :)
Please let me know if you have any leads. I would prefer something not running and original that is priced right.

Thanks,

John

John
They are still out there, and reproduction armor is available now.
Halftracks can be heavy so you might want to put in your location, someone might be just down the road from you and thinking you are on the other side of the pond and not reach out to you.
Good luck on your hunt, and the that is great with a father son project!

As Frank said, what a great project for you guys! Good luck in your search and if I hear of anything I'll pass it on.

I saw that one on that site. It has switched hands a few times in the last few months. It was bought in Alabama, moved to Florida, and now is apparently in CA after a very quick paint job.

Yep, have had that handle for years. It could have been "Colonel of the Urinal" LOL

Yes that belonged to a friend of mine in Jacksonville for a couple of months, he rebuilt the carb and had it advertised on here for sale for 25k. Now it is in California with new tracks and a cheap paint job, the kind where you paint over the rust. Still has the same bent steering wheel. Be interesting to see what it brings.

Clint,

This looks like the same people who are always on bring a trailer. I hate to say it, but this is the future of selling vehicles. it's incredible what a cheap paint job can do. I have been laughed at for trying to sell a 95% complete m2a1 for 30k.

It is the same guy he even makes reference to it in one of the comments. Recently he had the M2 with the M3 rear body that bid to 55k and didn't meet reserve. I think he sold the M8 with the fake cannon as well that was on there a few months ago. I have a friend finishing up a no expense spared correct restoration of a Diamond T M3A1 winch model that's taken almost 5 years and many many hours. I think we are going to try BaT and see what happens.
