I have an M16A1 Halftrack that is set up for Korean War era.
I've decided to equip it with the all the field gear for the 5 man crew to include all web gear, packs, sleeping bags and shelter halfs etc. My question is do you think it was normal to have WW2 gear mixed in with Korean War era items?
Thanks
Jim

Yes, I was still finding WWII gear in the 1990s in the Marines.

My father served in the WW2, Korea and Vietnam wars, his Korean war service was with the 187th (Airborne) RCT. My father has a year book from the 187th titled "The Rakkasans" and most of the equipment used early was WW2 stuff. By early 1952 you see a mix of WW2 and Korean war equipment. There is a very good picture of a M16A1 halftrack firing on Chinese troops in his year book. Having spent 20 years in the US Army, you always use what you have on hand.
Hope that information helps.

Re: Halftrack Field Gear?
Part of the pleasure of restoring & equipping Korean War vehicles, is all that late "green" WW2 stuff those serious WW2 collectors don't want.
I made my M38 Korean War, 187th, & just might do my '45 GPW the same. They were dropping vehicles in Korea, not gliders, but C-119s
I know on each 187th jump, their AAA .50 cals raised hell with the Reds.
And your half-track... my uncle was across the war in Korea w the 2nd ID, & could not say enough about half-tracks with 50s
laying down some firepower. "No call for fire, just 'over there'"
And I've seen that photo [from the 187th] of that half track!
Any pics of yours yet?
ps. we were using 50 cal ammo in Iraq 2004-2005 made in 1943, seriously
