Steve
See the hill, take the hill!
Years ago I was like you behind on getting a WC63 ready for a parade. The old veteran who was letting me use his garage, knew this. He went to the local VFW and recruited a small army of volunteers to help me get the truck back together. I made the parade thanks to a bunch of the Greatest Generation.
One more note on this, there was one old Navy vet who was on crutches with a bad leg. They handed him a sander, showed him what areas to sand, when he was done, someone would take the sander from him, he would move over a couple of feet, and be handed the sander again. It was a great team.

Thanks Frank for the comments. Matt did come over and we got her done in time.

I got my computer back so I edited my last post and added photos.

I did run into a few more problems though. First, I went to install the front floor plate and it didn't fit between the grab rails which are welded in place.

Image

That means the rear bumpers and lower rear armor plate has to come off to slide the floor plate in. Because of time constraints I do not have time to do this so I put a piece of plywood in its place.

Image

The second problem is mounting the very front floor plate between the ammo lockers. Mine is a converted M2A1 floor so an additional piece was added in (see channel with hole along top). Not sure how to mount floor plate as U clips won't fit.

Here are some other photos of my progress.

More to come.

That is where I also got my measurements from. I am not a carpenter, so I took the measurements to a cabinet shop and they made the pieces for me. They look great, hate to paint them!

Just a very late update to this post. Fuel tanks! Here are my new fuel tanks. One will be going into my halftrack and the other, on loan, will be going into Don's halftrack Zelda. Again, this is just a very late entry to my old restoration update.

Steve
My early M2 came with two fuel tanks. Plan on buying one new tank to run the M2, and the other for display and not used.
Where did you get your tanks from?

Oh yeah, tell me more about the fuel tanks and about who makes them! They look great.

Cheers,

The fuel tanks I got from Steve Verburg. He goes by Outsider on these forums. Super pleased with them. They came to me in a bare steel finish. I put gas tank sealer in them as a precaution and them took them to Line-X to get the spray on bed liner coating on them.

Here are some more photos connecting the fuel tanks to the fuel lines in my M2A1 halftrack.
