Re: Halftrack engine problems
Have the engine apart and will pull the valves in a week or two. I pulled the lifters and bleed them then reinstalled them to check the lifter gap, 040 and a couple I couldn't get 0.035 in so I'll have .010 ground off of them and put it all back together. Thanks for thinking and bumping. Will keep you guys posted.

Pulled the valves again after having them ground another .010 and still getting puff of air from the 4,5 and 6 from the intake manifold so valves are still not seating all the way. Lapped them in the second time I pulled the valves out. Just keeping the post going.will let you guys know the outcome. Thanks.

Re: Halftrack engine problems
Did you get this fixed/found the problem? also did you ever do a vaccum test when running?

If I remember correctly the valve gap is 100 thousand. I would look the info up but I got rid of all my books

Re: Halftrack engine problems
I haven’t found the problem with the engine. Finally bit the bullet and got a crate engine from the Netherlands and no problems with that. I think I got that engine just in time right before Covid blew up and so did over seas shipping. Thanks for asking though.

If you have compression, fuel and spark it is good to go.
I think you are just just wiring your ignition wires in the wrong direction on your dist cap.

Put it aside will revisit it in the spring. French rebuild is running strong. Thanks for asking.
