Hi, sold my gpw and wc54 a while ago, but the green bug bitt again. This time I realized my childhood dream and found a 1943 HD WLC. Just wondered what fuel is best, I've always used lead additives, but it is increasingly difficult to get 98 petrol, and 95 is getting more and more etanol in it. What does this to the older engines we play with?
Kind regards Maarten
Good to be back:)

Re: Fuel type
i took this picture of a WLC in Tenino, Washington several years ago. the owner had ridden it down from British Columbia. i doubt he carried enough special fuel to make that long trip. it was running fine when i saw it.

Re: Fuel type
Thanks for the replies. Not so easy to get hold of airplane fuel here in Norway. It is 95, 98 or diesel:D

Page 7 of TM 9-879 states gasoline should be 72 octane or better. You can also remove the ethanol from gasoline yourself:

Then add "Octane Supreme" to make leaded gasoline like the old days: http://www.wildbillscorvette.com/octanesupreme01.htm
For people who live in the USA or Canada there are still gas stations that sell ethanol free gasoline from usually 85 octane and up:
