Wayback wheels have them will have to call Dave he has a web site but no parts listed there.

Buchanan's has the spokes that were the deal buy and resell them from.

Got the first two rivets into my seat T I will be calling wayback next week for that clevis part. Thanks for the info on that! Other than that I'm still stripping powdercoat off my wheels, hubs, and handlebars. My friend building a beautiful 42wla I-A gave me his extra distributor since mine was missing. Cleaned that all up and will replace the electrical guts soon.

Then I decided to see what condition the fenders were in... After finding a good amount of bondo I found a few good rotted out spots. Everywhere that has a brace or riveted section, the typical water catchers was rusted through. So it looks like I will be patching in new metal and probably be grinding rivets off to separate the braces to be able to work it from both sides. :roll: ..... Oh well its only metal Right!?

And on a side note all the original holes for the fender toolbox and black outs are still on the front fender!

The timer you have there is for a Panhead. The stud comming out of the side was used from1947-63 and not correct.

You need the earlier timer used from 1937-46 circuit breaker plate #1566-37 strap #1637-36 and #1540-37 shaft housing all used on the 45, big twin flats and knuckleheads.

The seat tee looks great!

Other than the old electrical parts I only have to change the stud on the side to the correct band style right? The shaft and housings are the same?

Cut out on the side or the notch on the shaft housing was used from 1947-63 for the side stud.
The one you want dosen't have the cut out opening on the shaft housing.
Look on eBay they sell nos 45 shaft and housing all the time it's the timer base or bottom and the strap are hard to locate original ones that don't need to be restored.
You can look on the 45 Depot they show you what you will need.
You have to remember some of these parts cross over with the Knuckleheads and them guys that are building or restoring these bikes suck up these original parts so they are hard to find some times.

Started to pull the motor apart! Im having my machinist friend Chuck go through it with me since hes gone through a ton of old Harleys in his time and this is my first. (plus who's better to check if parts are out of spec than a machinist lol) Well... so far we have checked the inner cam bushings and they are just past the tolerance that is called out in the book. So looks like its time to make a list and replace some parts. Other than that, we started soaking some parts in the ultrasonic tank and will be spending some time and elbow grease cleaning the cases.

Finally got around to ordering my seat T clevis and just like oldabewla said wayback wheels had them for $15. So today I made a quick jig to hold everything straight and still then heat and air hammered the rivet.

Oh and I got my WLC plate in the mail!

That looks great and didn't have to make the clevis. I did mine the same way a re-rivet.

Picked up a nice used timer/distributor and some CAD valve covers and I think they look great! (still need to find an nice used cap). I also last night decided to go through all my carb parts and see if I could build a complete m88. After getting it all together for the most part I had a hard time getting the power fixed jet in because of the threads. The brass snapped so I had to extract the needle now it looks like I have to order a 1/4 40 tab which is a crazy size. But other than that it came together nice... I am still deciding if I want to paint the body silver or not... Im leaning to leave it natural or try to paint and age the other body I have that looks like it was chromed at one point

Update! after asking my machinist friend if he had a 1/4 40 tap (he didn't) we looked into ordering one.... $30 for ONE 1/4 40 tap... NOPE not today! lol! Luckily I have awesome friends and he decided to make me one and since the body is brass it cut no problemo!

Got my carb to air cleaner connector in the mail! My bike is early enough to run a raw finish instead of OD green. I wanted it to match the motor and not be freshly blasted so I used paint stripper again and removed the paint. Also saw a cool pic online of a 2x4 wood stand that you could assemble the entire bike except footboards and made one.

Another score came in the mail yesterday. As usual I hate to pay for what I can make and $500 for a sheet metal box is crazy! So after some research I found the Harley part number for the latches and looked on ebay and found this NOS set for $20. The lock is the same as the kidney toolbox (but I have seen some pics without lock). I have pics inside and out, all angles, and the Palmer book gives the rough dimensions of the box. I can also measure the bracket holes from my fender and scale the rest on my computer (or if anyone is holding I can possibly make a couple - latches, for detailed measurements )
