DUKW tales

Post by jeffl » Sun Jul 25, 2021 7:16 pm

We had a fantastic day on the lake with the Dukw. We covered 100 hrs in less than 3 yrs an 95 pct is on the water.

We got out late, noon, so all of the beaching places were taken. My first mate of 35 years said take the peninsula of rocks under water... well we had some drone photos when they draw the hydro power lake lower and picked the path.

The pictures show the Dukw all 6'wheels down and landed. Yes it looks a little like a ship wreck to all of the boaters that know the rocks in this area. We spent the next 3 hrs with the largest flag on the lake bringing smiles and education to dozens of people that stopped by, and many that slowed down for a photo op.

The last photo shows the rocks with level down 5 ft approx

What a great beast she is. We sat in the main channel and had the best day. We got out and swam while our Dukw stood guard, and our Scottie Lucy manned the helm. Most Americans love of flag and our Millitary. That was very clear.

Hello,

That looks like so much great fun and adventure !!!

What a Beautiful GMC Dukw !!!!!

I can only dream of getting mine restored someday to enjoy.
But as people should know, it will take a lot of work and money to restore a Dukw, to get to where you are at now !!
Keep us posted, it is an awesome WW2 vehicle !!!!

Best Regards,
Ray
