DUKW INSURANCE?

Post by krkelley68 » Tue Jun 29, 2021 12:26 am

I recently bought a 1945 DUKW and want to keep it for personal use, however I am finding it impossible to insure.

Where do you all get your insurance at for these types of vehicles?

Try Hagerty. That is who I have insured my GPA with.

Thanks for the reply. I tried Hagerty. They no longer do DUKW's.

My DUKW is insured by Hagerty. Just renewed a few months ago. I also have a marine policy with them. There was no DUKW accident in Oregon. That was in Washington near Seattle. That was not a DUKW, It was one of those reproduced things made to look like a DUKW.

Steve:
You mean that was a heavily modified DUKW...
The axle specifically was a DUKW with welded support modifications for weight damages incurred by overloading and age from what the report said.
Yes they had "Duckboats" too which are not DUKWs, rather more like a water bus.
(God I hate when they call everything in the water a DUKW, same as the Boston barge incident.)
Just wish I could work on my DUKW, ended up cutting the 1st one in half to transport it to the new property, no real loss, I cut around everything and have sent parts off to Netherlands to help save another DUKW.
