DUKW steering box leak
Is there any way to stop the leak between the bottom cover and the body of the steering box? There's a shim pack in the joint, so obviously no place for a gasket. I'm afraid that even a liquid sealant would affect the adjustment if it isn't completely squeezed out (as well as making an unholy mess). Should I just accept that steering boxes leak, and fill it with the John Deere corn head grease that antique car restorers resort to?

Re: DUKW steering box leak
I have found that the four bolts on the bottom of the box do loosen up on occasion. I have actually started to drill small holes in the bolts and I now run a safety wire through. I have also switched my grease to tube grease or pump grease.
