Hi Bob
So I am very curious to hear if you have received your historical blue number plates for your GPA!
And if you have been taking it out for road test and water test! And are you happy with the results in your testing....along with few pictures would be awesome! :D
I am still amazed how you push your way through this huge restoration project without faultering, and produced a Very Fine example of the GPA. Like a phoenix you raised it up out of the ash!

Best regards
David.

Yes, I got my papers,
Now I 've ordered the blue historical bumber plates and I am allowed to drive and swim.
I did first some test drives close to my home and the trips longer.

Then the first trip to the boat ramp;(click on picture)

Then the first water test.
At that trip my horn kept blowing several times :?
I already had a lot of attention from public with the car, but now a lot more than I wanted.
Beside some small leaks the trip was not so bad, and we both enjoyed the first swim.

Hello Bob
Wow! Your GPA is looking Fantastic, and Thank You for making a updated post with pictures and video of your first road / water test run! So I figured that You and Mary Ann must have driven over to Tholen, and put it in on Lake Markiezaatsmeer  Now you and GPA 12350 can start your bonding process with her, through all the up and coming events that y'all have over there!! Sounds like lots of good times ahead . :D Again "CONGRATULATIONS"

DAVID

Bob.... I got to looking and it looks like you actually took your GPA out towards the "North Brabant" for large ships (shipping lane) :o .... I am sure you turned it around soon, being the first water test run. :|
Wendy said that she would had tied that long rope on me and the GPA if i tried something like that!
Cheers

Thank you David, and don't worry :D
I had enough experiance at busy canals and rivers with my first GPA.
If you come over once in the future, I will take you there. 8)

Hi friends,
After months of trying out GPA 12350, most of the beginnings faults are solved.
I was for three days on the water and didn't have to use the bilge.
A good friend of mine, also GPA owner, recently bought an other GPA in the U.S.
This GPA was for years owned by the chairman of the French military vehicle club.
He replaced the original engine into a Hurricane engine, and fitted the deck-plates with
teak hold, and made it like a Italian Riva sport boat.
Then it was sold to a French military vehicle dealer.
That man sold it again to an American collector who owned it for many years.
For several reasons he put it on E bay for sale.
Finaly my friend Wibo bought the half restored and half complete vehicle.
When, after months this GPA arrived at his place, he mailed me this picture, with the question:
"does this extra part ring any bells for you? "
Image
This part was extra with his GPA, and was cut out of mine
My friend Ad and I had to do a lot of work to reconstruct this for mine.
I got it from Wibo as a souvenier.
Small (GPA) world :)

Wow! I just stumbled across this thread. What a story!!! What a great restoration! I'm also amazed at how "GPW" the GPA is, literally right down to the frame. Thank you documenting this so well!
