Hub seals for DUKW.

Post by weasel nut » Fri Apr 12, 2019 7:42 am

I have a July 1945 DUKW.

I am going to do the brakes on all axles. I need some hub seals (which are listed under a different part # than the CCKW). GM 3675092 & GM 3675073 are the DUKW part numbers. Anyone have any sources or a modern equivalent part number. 7-45 build date
Thanks. Bill

Hello Bill,

That is an awesome looking DUKW !!
Looks like it spent its post war years in a garage :D :D :D
My DUKW's spent their postwar years rusting :?

I grew up in Sanbornton, right next to you , and went to Winnisquam Middle and High School !!
I always liked passing the Union Soldier statue in Tilton on the way to school every day.

Are you going to the WW2 weekend in with the Conway Scenic Railroad later this year ?

I want to bring my GPW up from Florida to attend.

Best Regards,
Ray

Hi Ray,

Was unaware of the Conway RR event. I just looked it up on their website. Might take it in.

Unsure about WWII weekend.

Thanks for the comments.

Hello Bill,

Here is a G503 link to the event.
It sounds like a great event to ride the rails with our WW2 vehicles !

I too just looked at their website, and the event is not listed, I will check with the original poster of the event.

Best Regards,
Ray

The reason for different part numbers on hub seals for DUKW and CCKW is that the CCKW uses a leather seal whereas the DUKW is neoprene.

Well...not quite, I have Leather rears for DUKW, will check out the fronts If I can. Lips on DUKW Seals are shaped different as they have more water exposure.
OEM Leather in ideal storage is just as good as Neoprene.

I have never encountered a leather hub seal for the DUKW and no longer have the SNL for that vehicle.
Does the leather seal have the same part number as the neoprene?
We were at the end of a long supply chain here and there are differences in what was made available.

I'll take a look for you first chance I get. I have them on my GMC Shelf. DUKW Front seals are configured for DUKW front Spindles which are different than the front spindles on BANJO GMC.
