You both echoed my exact sentiments when I was at work. It was not designed for that plus adds top weight. So sad for all the people lost.

I think you can say. Don't use a canopy , metal or textile, while on the water.
If a dukw goes down it will do so within 30 seconds.
Take a look at this clip
https://youtu.be/Y_BbWXiddG4
I think this one the engine broke so water came in slowly.
The one from yesterday I'm afraid didn't go slowly. And with those windows..... scary stuff.
Condolences. My thoughts are with everybody involved....

And now there is a 200 $Mil law suit.
They keep calling them Duck Boats. Everyone has forgotten over the years, These are TRUCKS, NOT Boats.
And the canopy with windows is a recipe for disaster. And was.
I have ridden them at Wis Dells; but those don't have windows; just a canvas top. And on a lake and river you could probably stand up in.

Hindsite is 20/20.
Some friends and my wife and I took a ride on one in Washington DC and across the Potomac river back when my son was stationed at 8th and I in 2007.
You can see the life preservers stored in the shelves above the seats. It had a cloth top, aluminum top frame and open sides.
I was great for us in calm late spring weather.
